US Fencing Association unveils fencers for 2011 Catania World Fencing Championships
Unites States Fencing Association has announced the United States squad for the 2011 Catania World Fencing Championships in all categories of weapons on July 26.
The 2011 Catania World Fencing Championships will start on October 8 and will conclude on October 16. The Italian Fencing Federation will be hosting the 2011 World Championships in the city of Catania. These championships are of great worth because their
points are valid for qualifying in the 2012 London Olympics Games.
United States Fencing Association has selected the fencing squads on the base of performances that all the athletes shown in their World Cup and World Championships events.
The following is the list of fencers that have been announced in all categories of weapons in both male and females:
Men’s Sabre:
Two time 2008 Olympic silver medallist, James William, Tim Morehouse, Ben Lgoe, Daryl Homer will be playing in both Individual and Team events.
Women’s Sabre:
The United State has a very strong squad of Women’s Sabre team. The Women’s Sabre roster consists of the two-time Olympic Champion, Mariel Zagunis, Daria Schneider, Dagmara Wozniak and Ibtihaj Muhammad. Zagunis is not only the two-time Olympic Champion but
also two-time Individual World Champion.
Men’s Epee:
The Men’s Epee squad contains Soren Thompson, Bren Bratton, Seth Kelsey, and Cody Mattern. They will be looking to put in a good performance in the 2011 Catania World Championships.
Women’s Epee:
Lindsay Campbell, Courtney Hurley, Kelley Hurley and Maya Lawrence are four contestants that will be participating in the Catania Championships.
Men’s Foil:
Miles Chamley-Watson, Alexander Massialas, Gerek Meinhardt and Race Imboden will play for Individual and Team Men’s Foil discipline. Gerek is a 2010 World Champion as he won the 2010 Paris World Championships.
Women’s Foil:
Lee Kiefer is a 2010 Cadet World Champion who is included in the Women’s Foil discipline. Furthermore, 2011 Junior World Champion, Nzingha Prescod, Nicole Ross and Doris Willette will also contribute their skills for the victories. They will be looking to
put in a decent performance for their team.
