US Girl Fencers notch Y-12 Foil and Sabre events on 2011 Pan American Youth Championships
The United States' female athletes continued to maintain the medals victory on the third day of the 2011 Pan American Youth Championships. The US girls notched gold and silver medals in Y-12 Foil and Sabre events of females, on May 30.
The 2011 Pan American Championships started in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico on May 27, where Y-10 events were already underway on the second day of the championships. The Y-12 events were conducted on the third day after the commencement. The US Y-12 females
conquered two gold medals, three silvers and three bronze medals in third day events of the Youth Championships.
The United States' Xiao Tsai grabbed the gold medal in Girls’ Y-12 Foil event. The US Saanchi Kukadia, who had already won bronze in Y-12 Epee category, lost in final from Tsai and earned anther medal in silver.
The US Sabre females snatched all the medals in Y-12 Girls’ Sabre event on third day. Sara Cunningham defeated Mary Barnett to earn the gold medal. Barnett took home the silver medal, while Veronica Czyzewski claimed the bronze medal from Sabre category.
Similarly, US females took silver and bronze medals in Girls’ Y-12 Epee competition. US fencer, Farrah Lee-Elabd, lost her final bout to Mexican, Frania Tejeda. She ended the third day with silver medal victory.
The fourth day is all set for the Y-14 competitions. It seems that the US boys and girls will maintain their victories in final day events also. Here are the details for medal winners in Girls’ Y-12 competitions.
