US Golfer’s look for a final push in the Ryder Cup Team
In about seven weeks the world will witness one of major golfing treats. On September 25th the Ryder Cup will tee off in Medinah, Illinois. With such short time left in the world’s most toughest golf tournaments, the teams of USA and Europe are
about to be finalised in two weeks’ time.
European team is quite settled but there is a great deal of fluctuation in the USA team and it is the toughest as well. In the next two weeks, winning and losing will not be a matter of concern for the American golfers. Instead, it would be their standings
in the Ryder Cup team that would be at stake.
The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship are two tournaments in which US golfers will be looking to either strengthen their position or they will try to slip in the team.
Ryder Cup is not about money or glamour, it is about glory. It is about history and it is about playing for one’s country.
There will be competition for the last two spots. Plus, numerous players will be trying to impress the USA Ryder Captain Davis Love because he will pick four players to complete the team of twelve.
Spot 7th and 8th are quite manageable for the players outside the top eight. Jim Furyk is on the 7th but there is tough competition between Hunter Mahan, 8th, and Keegan Bradley.
Keegan is not very far behind Hunter and two good finishes in the next two tournaments would mean that Keegan will take over Hunter at the eight spot.
The performances in the PGA Championship will matter the most, as the tournament offers double points for the Ryder Cup team.
“I know that if I have a decent last end of the year, I will be on that team....but this U.S. teams is one of the strongest is recent history I would say, with all major winners coming from America, except the British Open. It is a very hard team to qualify
for because of all of the great play by Americans,” said Keegan.
Keegan has also expressed that he wants to be a part of this team very badly, as it will boost his morale massively.
