US Grand Prix driving force Tavo Hellmund might be replaced – Formula 1 news
According to some reports, it has been revealed that race promoter Tavo Hellmund might be replaced for the US Grand Prix project since Texas comptroller Susan Combs wrote to Bernie Ecclestone, the chief of Formula 1 Management.
The US Grand Prix is expected to become a part of the sport once again in 2012 but this time, the race is going to be hosted at a new venue in Austin, Texas which is currently going through its construction phase.
Reports claim that the construction work at the venue has been slowing down quite noticeably and that might be because Tavo’s involvement in the whole project is now decreasing as a result of which he might be replaced.
The race is expected to take place in November 2012 and keeping in mind that Hellmund was the main driving force behind this whole project, things might slow down if things keep up this way and if he is replaced anytime soon.
This whole project was proposed and carried out by Bernie Ecclestone and Tavo Hellmund after which it is believed that the 2012 US Grand Prix is going to be more than just a race. In fact, it is planned to be a complete festival so that people from all over
the country can come over and enjoy other activities along with the Formula 1 race as well.
It was revealed earlier that Tavo Hellmund asked Combs regarding the funds the officials are receiving for the US Grand Prix. He asked whether a change in the management or promoters would affect that funding in any way as a result of which it is believed
that Tavo might not be a part of the US Grand Prix project anymore.
However, nothing has been confirmed yet and according to a newspaper, it has been revealed that Bernie Ecclestone or Tavo Hellmund did not respond to any calls or emails this past Thursday, September 29, 2011.
These new venues need experienced promoters and if Tavo does decide to step aside, the organisers might go through a tough time dealing with the construction and promotion of the US Grand Prix.
