US Grand Prix organizers think artificial rain will help spice up Texas track – Formula 1 update

The US Grand Prix organizer, Tavo Hellmund, was very interested in Bernie Ecclestone’s fake rain idea and thinks that it will make the Texas circuit more exciting. He further said that artificial rain will also help the Formula one return to US tracks.
Tavo stated that Eccelstone’s idea will bring life to the dull circuits and will bring more spectators to the sport. He said that the artificial rain will bring out the best in the drivers and will promote talent on the formula one grid.
Formula one boss, Bernie Ecclestone, had previously stated that many critics of desert and dry tracks have pointed out the boring nature of these circuits. He had proposed that fake rain could be used to make them as interesting as some other Asian and European circuits. He suggested that sprinklers could be installed in some of the tracks. The sprinklers could be activated for 20 minutes to make things even for every team. Pirelli agreed with the idea because they have already conducted tests in wet conditions earlier this year in Abu Dhabi.
Tavo, along with Pirelli motor sport director, Paul Hembery, are the only two people who have given any support to Ecclestone’s idea. Mark Webber of Red Bull, on the other hand, said that it will make life tough for the drivers because most accidents are rain triggered. Webber said that the driver’s safety is already a concern and fake rain will make things worse. However it will surely bring excitement back to the track. Webber agreed with Paul Hembery that the drivers will not have a visibility problem because there will not be cloudy conditions related to the rain.
Tavo suggested that the artificial sprinklers can be added to the Texas circuit because it is still in the construction phase. He will also be able to do the additions because the Texas organizers earned over 12 million dollars from ten investors. The 2011 season has no American Grand Prix scheduled and there is only one that is scheduled in North America, the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Texas Grand Prix will make its debut in the mid of 2012 season, paired with the Canadian Grand Prix, to minimize the travelling costs for the Formula one teams.
