Is there a way, after recieving the marriage license, to sign papers, or do whatever we have to do, quickly, to be married? He is in the Us Navy, is there any help in that? We want to officially marry before he deploys but were going to have a real ceremony and everything when he comes back, so I dont want this first "ceremony" to really be much, as to not take away from our later ceremony.....

any suggestions, help? Can we just go to the chaplain quickly?

  1. Go to Court, fill out papers and they'll schedule your wedding date in court (Make sure you bring 2 witnesses to your wedding Day to sign your marriage certificate!)

  2. i'm an af wife so i think it works the same way.  talk to ur chaplin to be sure.  christsain ceremonies they need at least 2 months notice, catholic (my wedding) needs 6 months notice.  if u know the chaplin he might be willing to do a quickie.  but ur best bet is just to go to the justic of the peace and u can be married asap.  good luck.

  3. Call your local justice of the peace.... they'll be able to do it quickly. Just make sure you bring two people with you as witnesses and that you have all your paperwork in order.

  4. I'm a navy wife. My best advice would be to go to the court house in the county or city where you live, and get your marriage license. They will also have a list of people who can legally marry you. For example: I live in Norfolk, VA. The nearest court house to me is downtown. This is where I would obtain a marriage license. They also schedule weddings there as well. I am also able to perform weddings here in VA as well.

    good luck to you. :)
