US Olympic Sailing Team tumbles down in standings: 2012 London Olympic Games
At the end of third day proceedings, the US Olympic Sailing Team grabbed strong finishes to improve their ranking in four major classes of Olympic regatta on the Weymouth and Portland waters.
The team members representing different sailing classes were expecting another strong day ahead but unfortunately failed to come up to the expectations and tumbled down in the standings.
So far, the US Olympic Sailing Team is participating in Finn, Star, Laser and Laser Radial Women Match Racing, RS:X Men and Women and 49er class of the 2012 London Olympics.
The sailors in the Finn, Laser and 49er class were impressive in the Weymouth and Portland racing course and produced some impressive racing results in the initial days.
The sailors in these classes finished in Top 10 fleet positions at the end of third day. However, after that they tumbled down in their performance during the competitions on fourth and fifth day of the regatta. The teams need to pull up their socks and
perform aggressively to come back into the event.
The weather conditions on the Weymouth and Portland waters were quite strong on the fifth day and the fleet was troubled by the winds a bit. Meanwhile, despite strong winds, the participants completed their scheduled races on time.
