US Open 2010: Andy Murray breezes into the second round
The British number one tennis contender from the men’s side, Andy Murray won his first round match of the United States Open tennis tournament 2010 by defeating Lukas Lacko from Slovakia in a total of three sets on Wednesday. The final match score was 6-3 6-2 6-2.
The top ranked player from Great Britain concluded his clash yesterday in the time period of around two hours, in New York. As a result of this victory, the twenty three year old Murray will take on Dustin Brown in his second round match of the United States Open tennis tournament 2010. Brown made his way into the next round after getting the better of Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo from Jamaica in his first round match at the Flushing Meadows in a total of three sets. The final match score was 6-4 7-6 (8-6) 7-5.
In another match on Wednesday, the seventh seeded Tomas Berdych was ousted by Michael Llodra at the United States Open tennis tournament in straight sets.
Tomas defeated Andy comprehensively in the fourth round of the clay court French Open tennis tournament back in May and afterwards made his way into his first final of the major event.
Murray, who successfully made his way into the final of the United States Open tennis tournament back in 2008, looked completely in control during his clash against the Slovakian tennis foe, Lacko, who was playing at the United States Open tennis tournament for the first time in his career.
The fourth seeded Scot looked totally comfortable at the Arthur Ashe Stadium despite the blistering heat which had already seen the tenth seeded tennis player from the women’s side, Victoria Azarenka collapse on the court during her second round clash versus Gisela Dulko.
"I am glad that I managed to win the match in a total of three sets however it was much harder than what the score line actually suggests. As far as the conditions at the Flushing Meadows are concerned, they were not just hot but in fact brutal to be honest,” said Murray after the match.
Andy started off his first round clash at the United States Open tennis tournament 2010 with a total of two aces and rightly controlled the tempo of the match till the end.
Lacko's best opportunity came at the beginning of the second set however Murray didn’t allow him to dominate for long and went on to win two straight sets in the end.
The Slovakian double-faulted on a total of two occasions during the third game of the third set and thus handed a comfortable opening match victory to the Scott who is looking good to win his first career Grand Slam title this season at the Flushing Meadows in New York.
"It was off course tough to play out there under the sun. The conditions were quite tricky. Moreover, I was up against Lukas on the very first occasion in my career so I took some time to get used to his style of play. However, I did enough in the end to win in straight sets and that was the most significant thing for me. The only important thing in a Grand Slam match is to win in the end. And I will try to carry on my winning momentum for the rest of the tournament as well,” said Murray after the match.
In another action packed session on Wednesday, the American tennis player John Isner dismissed Frederico Gil from Portugal in the first round match of the United States Open tennis tournament in a three setter clash in New York. The final match score was 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.
