He is taking part in the final major event of the season in a good form, having successfully defended his Rogers Cup Men’s title in Toronto earlier this month, after getting the better of both Rafael Nadal as well as Roger Federer in back-to-back matches.
"It will obviously help me a lot when I will face them here in New York, it’s great for my confidence,” said the 23-year-old Murray. "I always feel great playing here, New York is undoubtedly an exciting place to come and fight for the final Grand Slam of the year. I have been here for the last six days now and it’s a wonderful feeling beyond any doubt.”
As far as the hot favourite Rafa is concerned, the United States Open tennis tournament is so far the only Grand Slam, which has evaded the Spaniard.
He will register his name as the seventh player in the history to capture all four major trophies with win in New York this year however the twenty four year old Nadal said that he is not dying to complete this feat.
"I do want to capture this year’s US Open title however without obsession," said Rafael.
"I am more than satisfied and happy with what I have, all the championships I have won which is more than what I once imagined. There is certainly no doubt about the fact that my personal satisfaction is going to increase if I capture a title at the Flushing Meadows however it’s not a compulsion in any way. I have already won two major tournaments this season at the Roland Garros as well as the grass court Grand Slam competition which is amazing,” added Nadal.
