US Open 2010: Andy Murray versus Dustin Brown - Match Preview
The British tennis player Andy Murray will take on Dustin Brown from Jamaica in his match at the United States Open tennis tournament in New York today.
Both players will play against each other for the very first time in their careers, during this second round clash at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at around 2000 BST, local time. However, the arrival of Hurricane Earl could hit the Flushing Meadows and affect the day’s schedule in New York.
Murray has made his way into the second round of the United States Open tennis tournament after defeating Lukas Lacko in his opening clash at the Flushing Meadows in a total of three sets in New York. The final match score was 6-3 6-2 6-2.
The top ranked Brit was in total control of his first round game and concluded the battle in just two hours. Murray, in spite of the brutal heat seemed at ease and took full advantage of his opponent’s weaknesses on the court. After the match, the fourth seeded Scott said, “I am happy with the way I survived under intense heat in my today’s match and managed to win it in straight sets as it was extremely tough out there without any doubt.”
Brown on the other hand has made his way into the second round of the United States Open tennis tournament after thrashing out Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo in a total of three sets in his previous match. The final match score was 6-4 7-6 (8-6) 7-5.
In another action packed session on Friday, the top seeded Spaniard Rafael Nadal will meet Denis Istomin in one of the night matches at the United States Open tennis tournament 2010 in New York.
Despite the chances of a semi final clash with Nadal, the Scott tennis player, Andy Murray is not looking beyond his upcoming battle at the moment.
"I just want to give my very best in every single match of the tournament and I am not actually thinking that much about Nadal and Federer at the moment as I have just reached the second round of the United States Open tennis championship. That’s kind of underestimating other opponents that I have to surpass in order to reach the later stages of the competition where I will likely face both the big guns. All these guys are no less in talent or aptitude as Tomas Berdych, who has been superb in the major tournaments this season was defeated by one of his early round opponent in straight sets, Robin also narrowly went out the other day along with Djokovic. Therefore, it is no use of thinking ahead right now,” said the Scott.
When asked about today's match against Murray, twenty five year old Brown, who has imprinted his name in the pages of history after beating Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo (becoming the first tennis player from Jamaica to record a win at a major event since 1974) said, “It is definitely going to be a tough clash for sure. However, I will try my level best to give my hundred percent and play my natural aggressive game and will try to limit the points as well. I know he is a really good returner, so I will have to handle it carefully and serve accordingly and will also try to play from the baseline.”
Murray on the other hand admits that he has not seen the Jamaica much. “I have not seen him much but I have heard a lot about his big game and volley and serve ability. I know he plays a lot differently from the rest on the tour. He is also a good athlete. Since, I have not played against him, so I am just going to concentrate on my game in today’s match however there is no doubt about the fact that knowing about your opponent’s game helps a great deal in building up a strategy and changing it accordingly on the court,” said Murray.
