US Open 2010: Top Three contenders from the men’s side
The fourth and the final Grand Slam tournament of the season, the United States Open championship is just about to begin within a period of six weeks.  If the predictions are to be considered, everyone is aware of the fact that Rafael Nadal is the hot favourite and the season end number one, Roger Federer on the other hand is still the second seeded player in spite of his quarter final exit at the grass court Grand Slam tournament. Therefore, the top three players who could dominate on the hard court this year are given below:
3. Andy Murray, Can he progress further?
The tennis fans all around the world discusses about his defeat at the hands of the big man, Roger Federer at the final of the Australian Open championship that shocked him badly. However, it is high time that the American should move on and forget about his past. He is energetic; he has the intelligence along with the perfect game plan. Murray’s game mostly depends on his counter attacking. Moreover, Andy also serves pretty well and undoubtedly the man has one of the best backhands on the tournament. His cautious game relies on accurate shot hitting, and the hard surfaces that provides truer bounces than the clay or grass court, making hard ones appropriate for his style. There is certainly no doubt about the fact that, he still has the capability to triumph in a championship or two heading up to the United States Open. If he can strengthen his forehand, and defence more, he may progress further. Otherwise, Murray will drop below Robin Soderling to number five in the rankings towards the end of the year.
 2. Roger Federer, the Return of the Swiss master
How Federer has performed at the United States Open in the past is truly outstanding. At probably the quickest championship of the season, he has reached a total of six finals, triumphing five consecutively. The interesting thing is that the Swiss tennis master has won all these matches against entirely different players. No other player has even reached two finals in a row at the US open. Federer stands at 51-5 at the US Open. Regardless of his past few months performances, one cannot neglect the fact that the only major championship, Federer has won this season was the hard court Australian Open and here again we are heading towards another hard court competition. There will be definitely some difficulties for him towards the start of the champion ship however, if he manages to recapture his lost movement, he will surly play with a greater amount of confidence as he is the man who owns the most hard court titles and in form he is no less than a nightmare for any player in the world.
1. Rafael Nadal, hoping to win his first US Open title
The French Open gave Rafa the new nickname "The Alien" after experiencing his awe inspiring mastery on the clay surfaces. There is no doubt about the fact that his hard court slate versus various opponents isn't as ideal one including Djokovic, Davydenko as well as Andy Murray.
Nevertheless, the man has grabbed a Slam title on hard surface, a deed Davy and Murray have yet to accomplish. The Alien will definitely arrive at the Flushing Meadows in the city of New York with an aim to won the US Open title this season. He will definitely be looking forward to face the Swiss tennis master, Roger Federer on the hard courts and in case he managed to get the better of the king at the Flushing Meadows that is there anyone else who can stop the Alien?
