US Open GP Gold 2012: Takuma Ueda ousts Chun Seang Tan to ease into Men’s Singles final
Takuma Ueda, an aggressive and in-form shuttler from Japan, remained consistent in his smashing performance as he reached into Men’s Singles final after beating Malaysia’s Chun Seang Tan in semi-final encounter at the Yonex OCBC US Open GP Gold 2012 in USA, on Friday, July 6.
Things have been going in Takuma’s favour in all of his matches as he remained confident and overpowered all of his rivals in a striking fashion.
In the semi-final clash against the lower ranked Malaysian shuttler, the top seeded Takuma employed his huge variety of strokes and stamped his supremacy on court by ending up the fight in straight games in 43 minutes with a comfortable difference on the board.
The fourth seeded Chun Seang, on the other hand, failed to stretch his impressive winning run in US Open as he remained struggling against Takuma throughout the contest and eventually crashed out without taking away any game from his Japanese opponent.
In the first set, Chun Seang found a wonderful start when he controlled the bird with his impressive craft and remained ahead of his rival at the early stage.
The higher ranked Takuma tried his best to dominate the pace of rallies at the opening half but failed and remained three points behind his rival at 8-11 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Malaysian shuttler did not drop his speed and also kept his upper hand over his rival until 15-8.
At this stage, Takuma changed his plan and started to keep the bird low by increasing his speed and ended the superiority of his challenger by reaching at 16-16.
The Japanese shuttler was in full control and he did not let his opponent to score even one more point and ended up the game with a 21-16 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Takuma was in similar mood as he did not change his tactics at any stage and established an incredible lead of 11-3 until the break.
After the interval, Japanese shuttler was calm and composed on court and he did not face any problem in finishing off the set with a huge margin of 21-12.
Takuma easily won this semi-final clash in two sets by a staggering 21-16 and 21-12 score on the board.
