US Open Polo Championship Player Ratings: Crab Orchard 15 – Zacara 14
Crab Orchard, the foursome led by Adolfo Cambiaso (World Number Three), and Zacara, the foursome of Facundo Pieres (World Number Two), faced each other in a fight to start their journey in the United States Open Polo Championship. It was a cracking polo
match of the season, in which the two foursomes displayed open striking games. The great play resulted on the victory of Crab Orchard by a solitary goal 15-14.
The two sides contested some feisty polo, particularly in the second half and enchanted the spectators a lot. However, the emotional afternoon left the fans of Zacara disappointed as they lost the game, despite of Pieres' eleven goals haul.
Here are the player ratings from the two sides.
Crab Orchard
Adolfo Cambiaso: 8.5/10
Cambiaso rendered an outstanding performance in every way whether talk about his lengthy rides, goals scorings, penalty-conversion or his movements at the horseback. He superbly finished the game over a classic victory for his foursome. He remained at number
one for several years and is now standing at number three. He scored ten out of total fifteen goals and made the victory possible for his foursome, which failed to show impressive game in the previous USPA Piaget Gold Cup.
Hilario Ulloa: 7.5/10
Ulloa continued imperious form throughout the game and intercepted numerous strikes from the opposite side. Apart from scoring three goals, he was the man who played pivotal role in the ten goals of Cambiaso. He contested the game calmly and provided great
support to the front-runners. His work at both the ends, the offence and the defence, was excellent and his effort allowed Crab Orchard to shine on the field.
Nachi du Plessis: 6.0/10
He was though not 100 percent comfortable at his position, but still played a reasonable game on the field. He was not impressive at the defence, particularly in the second half. He accounted for a single goal in the win that improved his rating.
George Rawlings: 4.5/10
He was out of the order during the game and could not make an impact, whether on the defence or in the offence. He was sloppy in the ball possession and provided opponents many chances to creep the score close.
Zacara
Facundo Pieres: 9.0/10
No one could play as excellent as he played in the game and led the strikes for his eleven successful goals. It was one of his best performances in the season, where he struggled until the last moment of the contest to save them from defeat. But it was not
lucky day for Pieres, who is also best player of the world after Pablo MacDonough.
Sebastian Merlos: 6.5/10
He is one of the two reasons behind the hardly-fought game. He played a key-role in the eleven goals of Pieres and created so many chances for him. His rides and stick work was outstanding on the field. He scored two goals in the loss.
Mariano Uranga: 5.5/10
As always seemed Zacara’s most impressive defender, he could not continue the momentum and failed to make an impact in the game. He scored once, but could not deny any strikes from the opposite side.
Juan Jo Gonzalez: 4.0/10
He was replaced with Lyndon Lea, but failed to make a little impact in the game. He missed numerous shots at the number four position.
