US Open Polo Championship Quarter-final Player Ratings: Audi 14 – Zacara 10
As per the expectations, Audi shocked Zacara in the quarter-final match of the United States Open Polo Championship held at the International Polo Club in Wellington. Hawks displayed a weakened game and lost to Audi, the unbeaten squad of the tournament.
Audi ran out comfortable successors, as they put fourteen goals past and set a spot in the semi-final contest of the event.
The foursome of Zacara was aided by a few strikes in the first half. But the Marc Ganzi-led company was clearly the better side on the day that saw Audi in the winning spirit in the US Open Polo Championship.
Audi
Gonzalito Pieres: 8.0/10
The Argentinean striker played vital role in stifling Audi attacks with well-timed interceptions and lengthy rides. He was always tidy in the ball handling as he looked to carry the ball for strikes. He moved the ball throughout the field which was largely
praised by his team-mates. He scored four goals in the crucial game and made the victory possible.
Nico Pieres: 7.0/10
Nico Pieres, the fabled polo pro of Argentina, is looked like a natural goal-scorer, but what makes him extra special is his excellent intuitive movement on the field. He was always at the front position to lead the attack and earned some seven goals in
the six-chukka of action. He used his skills brilliantly and applied a poacher’s finish to put Audi in the lead and, eventually, through the semi-finals of the US Open.
He is continuingly delivering superb performances in the season and had an assist to retain the unbeaten record of Audi.
Marc Ganzi: 5.0/10
The skipper of the Audi team was not at his best in the strikes. He could be called reasonable, but not impressive. He scored only one goal in the game, but played well on defence. He booked for a rash challenge in the first half of play, but made an imperative
contribution on defence in the last three chukkas.
Rodrigo Andrade: 6.0/10
He displayed superb stamina and created spaces for attacks. He worked hard throughout the six frames and marked three goals besides saving count-less strikes. His pace was always danger that kept Zacara’s attackers away from the goal.
Zacara
Facundo Pieres: 8.0/10
As usual, he showed a brilliant game in the quarter-final contest and lit the lamp seven times. Thought he could not fight impressively against his brothers, he was good in the first half of play. He made numerous runs and was unlucky not to have one or
two assists to take his foursome into the semi-final match.
Sebastian Merlos: 5.0:10
Merlos was determined to take the ball in the midfield, but a lot of his good work unnoticed in the game. He scored two times, but failed to create coordination among the players.
Mariano Aguerre: 6.0/10
He could be called a flop player of the contest, as he missed numerous glorious chances in the second half. He failed to serve much to his team for winning the game.
Carlos Gracida: 5.5:10
He struggled a little against the Audi's attackers. He was sloppy in the ball possession and failed to offer adequate support to his team. He scored once in the game, but gifted many scores to the opponent team.
