Las Monjitas versus Crab Orchard: US Open Polo Championship Recap and Player Ratings - Part 2
In the second installment of the two-part series, we will briefly discuss the performance of the players from the two teams.
Player Ratings: Las Monjitas 8 – Crab Orchard 7
Contrary to the expectations and predictions of experts and polo pundits, the team of Las Monjitas took Adolfo Cambiaso-led Company down by one goal to achieve its theatre of dreams. The players of Las Monjitas in the head of their game plan covered the
legendary Adolfo Cambiaso and blocked him at different positions. This game plan really served well to Las Monjitas and they managed to gain a crucial victory over the defending champions, Crab Orchard.
Let us take a look at how players from both the teams worked in the quarter-final game.
Las Monjitas
Agustin Merlos: 8.0/10
He picked up the ball from the centre-line easily, seemed assure all the day and came out stronger in all aerial spars. The young Argentinean looked active and energetic throughout the game and lit the lamp four times. His speed, stick-work and movement
at the horseback were excellent that made the significant triumph possible for Las Monjitas. Among four of his scores, he converted a pair of penalty-shots. We can call him a perfectionist in the crucial game.
Eduardo Astrada: 7.0/10
Astrada was the man who linked up well with the front man and the defending players positioned at the number three and four spots. He scored twice in the competition, besides denying numerous strikes from opposite side. He displayed some impressive attacks
with some good interceptions and vital passes. He also created some neat goal-scoring chances for his front man.
Santiago Toccalino: 6.0/10
There was not much he could have worked to thwart the attacks from the other side, but he still did a lot to produce some wonderful saves to keep his team, ahead on the score-board. He performed his job more than effectively thanks to his solitary goal that
extended his ratings.
Camilo Bautista: 6.5/10
Besides being the best game-winner goal player, he also showed wonderful work on defence and blocked many attacks from Crab Orchard. He played brilliantly at the number four position and kept Cambiaso far away from the goal.
Crab Orchard
Adolfo Cambiaso: 6.5/10
Cambiaso failed to make an impact in this crucial game and could only score twice. He was covered by the Las Monjitas' defenders and failed to break the strong defence-line of Las Monjitas. He was averaged as the eighth player in terms of goal-points, but
failed to maintain his momentum in the heated played game.
Hilario Ulloa: 7.5/10
Ulloa was at his best and showed impressive game on the field. He always looked for space in the strike and scored four times with excellent passing techniques. Though Ulloa failed to coordinate well with Cambiaso, but bombed forward many times against Las
Monjitas.
Nachi du Plessis: 6.0/10
He struggled hard to cope with the movement of the Las Monjitas players and seemed wonderful at times. He added one goal in the tally but could not defend well in the last moments of the regulation time-period.
George Rawlings: 4.0/10
Like all the previous games, he failed to make an impact in the game neither on defence nor on the offence. He can be called a failed player on the field, as he gifted goals to Las Monjitas on few occasions.
