The USGA awarded the 2015 US Open to a new public course in Tacoma Washington. Chambers Bay is only 1 year old so its a bold move by the USGA. I haven't played it, does the course qualify and does it have the space for corporate tents, parking and able to hold 25,000 people per day.

  1. Yes. I heard an interview about this today. The USGA was quite involved with the development of this course and they knew from the beginning that the course hoped to host the US Open. The USGA made 5-6 trips to the course as it was being built to make suggestions regarding the logistics that you have asked about.

This is a beautiful course and, by the time the US Open is played there in 2015, it will be a pretty mature course and will have hosted so other (lesser) tournaments.

  2. Oh yes, Chambers Bay is a spectacular layout with shot values galore.  It's going to be more than a tough test.  And it is surrounded, virtually, by nothing.
