US Open betting tips
The US Open starts today and for some it brings about the opportunity to make some money via the betting exchanges.
The first round brings ample opportunity to find some shocks and bankers to drive the value of your multiple up. If you’re not sure who to pick today here are some options we think could make you some money.
Alisa Kleybanova @ (1.32) vs Johanna Larsson (3.39)
A world No.30 vs a world No.69 could be quite a close match, but in reality this should be a walkover for Kleybanova. With Larsson playing a lot of her matches on the ITF circuit she won’t be used to the power Kleybanova will bring to the table. The Russian has reached the third round of every Grand-Slam this year and if she doesn’t make the second round at least at Flushing Meadows, it will be a big shock. At 1.32 it’s not a bad match to have in a multiple.
Vera Dushevina @ (2.16) vs Alona Bondarenko (1.82)
These two are close in the betting for good reason. Their head-to-head stands at 2-2 with Bondarenko winning their latest meeting at the French Open and if you think it’s down to the surface you’d be wrong. Both ladies have one win against each other on clay and on the hard courts. Both haven’t been in great form but Dushevina could take this despite failing to qualify for Montreal and New Haven. Dushevina’s height advantage could come into play against the smaller Bondarenko and the talent is definitely there, even if the form isn’t. At 2.16 it’s a pretty decent price for a multiple.
Petra Martic @ (2.16) vs Elena Baltacha (1.84)
The two met at Wimbledon earlier in the year and it was the Croatian, Martic, who came out on top with a three-set victory. But since then things haven’t gone too well for the 19-year-old. She’s struggled with injuries withdrawing from Budapest and Prague. She lost to world No.2 Caroline Wozniacki in Copenhagen but it’s the talent we’re looking at. Baltacha might be ranked higher but Martic has the higher talent level and if it all comes together Martic should be playing in the second round.
Pick all three in a multiple and you get odds of 5.39, not to bad for a first-round treble.
