Now that the draw has been released it is interesting to see all the potential matchups. Here I'm focusing on the big three.
Federer
(3rd) - Stepanek - Beat Federer earlier this year on clay in Rome in straight-set tiebreaks.
(4th) - Verdasco/Andreev - Shouldn't be too troubling.
(QF) - Davydenko/Gasquet - Federer has a 12-0 record against Davydenko but he has lost once to Gasquet on clay. Last time they met on hard courts was the 2006 Masters Series finals in Toronto: Federer dropped the first set but eventually won.
(SF) - Djokovic/Roddick - If he makes it this far this will be pretty tough for him given the way he's been playing lately. He would obviously prefer Roddick.
Nadal
(4th) - Berdych/Karlovic - Solid player with big serve and forehand. Could potentially be very dangerous. Berdych leads 3-1 on hard courts but Nadal beat him earlier this year in the semis of Miami. As for Karlovic, he is a nightmare for many but he often bombs out in the slams.
(QF) - Blake/Nalbandian - Either matchup is pretty tough, but Nadal would probably prefer Blake. Nalbandian beat Nadal on hard courts in back-to-back tournaments in Paris and Madrid last year (their only two meetings).
(SF) - Murray/Ferrer - Ferrer could be a handful. He leads 2-1 on hard courts and interestingly beat Nadal in last year's US Open
Djokovic
(4th) - Safin/Tsonga/Moya - Some interesting matchups. Moya has given Djokovic some good matches; their head-to-head is tied up 2-2. Safin of course knocked out Djokovic at Wimby to everyone's surprise.
(QF) - Roddick - Always tough to face Roddick's serve; Roddick beat Djokovic in Dubai earlier this year. Head-to-head is 1-1, both on hard courts.
(SF) - Federer - If Djokovic doesn't get knocked out early and Federer is really shaky like he has been recently the edge goes to Djokovic. Fed might be looking for a little revenge.
