US Open title will not change the retirement decision of Kim Clijsters – Tennis News
Belgian superstar, Kim Clijsters, will not return to the professional tennis circuit after her run ends at the US Open Championships. She made it clear that to the public in a press conference. It was thought that the former world
number one will change her mind if she is able to grab the US Open title but the 29-year-old Belgian star cleared the air with all rumours by stating that it will be her last tournament no matter what happens.
The query from one of the media representatives was that will the US Open title change your mind about the retirement decision and the Belgian bluntly stated, “No”. So, it means the Grand Slam Championship at New York is formally
going to be the last ever tournament for one of the best and dominating woman of the tennis circuit.
Clijsters wants to quit tennis and devote more time to her family; already a mother of one child wants to increase the number of offspring and for that she needs to take rest and spend more time with the beloved personnel.
The Belgian added, “It's a balance for everybody. You know, there is obviously a detail for us I think for me especially in my mind figuring out the right balance, especially when I'm on the road, spending time with [my daughter]
Jada and with my family."
She earlier announced her retirement in 2007 but took her decision back and came back at the US Open Championship in 2009. However, nothing like that is going to happen this time around because she is already aging and another
child means an added responsibility. So, the decision of the retirement is final.
Clijsters stated while pointing towards her heart, “[I knew] here.” She further added, “You feel it and you know its right . . . For women, when we retire, I think families become a big part of our lives."
She thinks that her fellow former world number one, Serena Williams, is hot favourite to claim the US Open title. Let’s hope we all have a wonderful tournament ahead of us starting 27th of August.
