US Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini eyeing Coppa Italia triumph against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan
US Palermo are in the final of the Coppa Italia for the third time in the outfit’s history, and club President Maurizio Zamparini is aiming for the finish line this time. Despite having a troubled season in the Italian top flight, the Aquile have managed
to make up for a disappointing domestic campaign with an excellent cup run.
In a radio interview given recently, Zamparini talked about the current situation at the outfit and his relationship with the head coach, Delio Rossi.
"It’s a very important goal, the Italian Cup final, I am very happy for the fans and I am convinced that we can win the trophy. The discussion about Rossi is not on technical merit that it has amply demonstrated. We must think about the personal relationship
between him and me, we'll see if we can find the right feeling.” The Rosanero President said.
The ongoing season has been a disappointment for the men in pink-black jerseys as the Rosanero failed to make an impact in the Italian top flight and also crashed out of UEFA Europa League in the group stages, owing much to their inconsistency.
Delio Rossi was sacked from his managerial seat on February 28, and Serse Cosmi was appointed in his place. Cosmi lasted only four games before Zamparini showed him the door and brought Rossi back in charge.
The Serie A standings are unlikely to change much for the Rosanero with just two games left in the season. However, Rossi’s men have made it to the finals of the Italian Cup by defeating the newly crowned Serie A champions, AC Milan. The Rosanero now have
an excellent opportunity to win back their disappointed fan base.
Palermo play the reigning cup holders, Inter Milan, in the Coppa Italia final on May 29, 2011. Inter defeated AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 2-1 on aggregate to seal a final berth. Stakes would be high going into this game; Inter Milan need to salvage some pride after failing
to defend Serie A and Champions League titles, while Palermo need to make up for poor showings in the league.
