US Palermo’s Delio Rossi to quit Renzo Barbera at the end of the season – Serie A Update
US Palermo head coach, Delio Rossi, is expected to quit his job at the end of the season, as revealed by the Rosanero sporting director, Walter Sabatini. Rossi is likely to bail out from the opportunity of staying at Stadio Renzo Barbera despite the club
wanting the opposite.
The Rosanero President, Maurizio Zamparini, wants to hold onto the tactician and is keen to hold talks with the former midfielder at the end of the season to come to common grounds over the tactician’s future. However, the team has lagged behind in the Italian
top flight throughout the season and acceptable results have been hard to find.
Rossi was sacked by the outfit on February 28, 2011, after three consecutive defeats, including the 0-7 humiliation at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Udinese-Calcio-c40789 at the home turf. Serse Cosmi was appointed as the replacement but in the course of just four weeks, Rossi
was called back to retake his position at the outfit.
Sabatini analysed the previous events that occurred at the outfit when Rossi was sacked, only to be recalled, earlier this year. While talking to the media, Sabatini said:
“I think there is little chance in Rossi staying. A cycle has come to the end. I think that Delio and Zamparini will make different choices, but this is what happens in football.”
The team is now in the final of the Coppa Italia and they will be playing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan at Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The team can make up for the poor performances in the league by stealing the title from the defending champions.
Sabatini believes that as the team has made it to the final of the Coppa Italia, Rossi might change his mind should the Aquile manage to emerge victorious against Inter Milan.
“Victories can sometimes form a bond. If they win the Cup then they will perhaps reconsider, but I don’t think they can continue together”, the Sporting Director concluded.
