All different account numbers, but all savings. Does this domistic policy here cover all accounts or just up to the sum total of 100K?

  1. I believe the sum total of $100K.

But very few people keep that much in a bank account - it's not smart money.  You don't EARN much, in a bank.  MOST people will keep that in investment accounts.

  2. I'm pretty sure the limit is $100k per bank you have deposit accounts at.

    For example:

You have $250k total among all of your checking/saving/cd accounts at Wells Fargo.  You're only insured up to $100k.

But you also have $150k total in accounts at Chase.  You're also insured up to $100k there.

So you have $400k in banks, but you're only insured up to $200k.

I'm think that's how it works, but I'm not 100%
