US Roster revealed for tomorrow’s New York Men’s and Women’s Sabre World Cup
The Men’s and Women’s New York Sabre World Cup is to start off tomorrow at the New York Athletic Club (NYAC), comprising of both Individual and Team competitions in both the gender disciplines and will conclude on June 25.
On the first day of the event, pool rounds, also known as the preliminary rounds, will be held among the Individual men and women fencers from various nations. On the next day, the successive rounds of the individual event will take place, ending with the
final bouts in both the disciplines. Lastly, on the third day will comprise of the Team World Cup for both men and women senior fencers.
The world’s finest fencers will be found united this weekend over the World Cup platform including medallists from the previous World Cups and Olympics.
A total of 46 nations are taking part with their fencers in the New York World Cup, which is one of the 2012 London Olympic Games' qualifiers.
Representing these nations, total 160 women and 191 men fencers have confirmed their participation in the competition until now.
From the host nation, Mariel Zagunis, the two-time Olympic Champion along with the 2008 Olympic finalists Tim Morehouse and James Williams will be representing America (USA) in the sabre weapon discipline. In addition to the above, the US fencing roster
for the event consists of 32 women and 36 men sabre fencers.
Overall, the event will be featuring as much as 26 World and Olympic medallists including four of the past Individual World Cup winners and Champions from the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Friday - June 24
8:00 a.m. – Weapons control in the New York Athletic Club
9:00 a.m. – Women’s Sabre start of the pools to qualification table
2:00 p.m. – Men’s Sabre start of the pools to qualification table
Saturday - June 25
9:00 a.m. – Direct Elimination table of 64 Women's Sabre
1:40 p.m. - Direct Elimination table of 64 Men Sabre
6:30 p.m. - Start of the semi-finals and finals for both Men’s and Women’s Sabre

Saturday - June 25
8:00 a.m. – Weapons control in the New York Athletic Club
11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Confirmation of the composition of teams
2:00 p.m. – Publication of the direct elimination table for teams in the New York Athletic Club
Sunday - June 26
8:20 a.m. – Start of the table to 32
6:00 p.m. – Start of Bronze and Gold Final Matches for both Men’s & Women’s Sabre
The weapon control, referee meeting and declaration of pools for the individual competition of both men and women will take place today at the venue.
