  1. You know, CT and most New England states are pricey, but the safety, the people, the properties are just beautiful.... Plus, if you did consider coming out of retirement, the casinos have a lot to offer, great benefits, good pay, job security....

Look into CT a bit, you just might find it within your needs.

PA, well, eh, I live there now, I prefer CT over any state I've been to. Granted, I haven't traveled too much lol... Maybe I'm bias cause CT is and will always be home to me.

    =D

  2. Well, I live in Missouri, I bought 5 and a half acres ,with two out buildings, fenced and a house, three bedroom ,two bath for $50,000.00 . We have low property tax, mine was $284.00 last year. My house payments are $242.00 a month.

'Small Missouri towns have the advantage of small town prices with large cities with-in 12 miles.

    Good luck.

  3. Well PA is not the place, the abundant building of Taj Mahol schools in depressed areas and what no one fails to mention is the nuisance taxes PA is riddled with them. Per capital, per capital school, a tax dependent upon what you do for a living, yes retirement is included, the right to work in PA tax, the emergency tax by county, the I have cable so have to pay the local borough $5 a month, the list goes on and on, and right now chief crook and tax master Rendell is coming up with more. I have lived in WI, (Racine is just as bad) IN, KY, CA TX overseas and in PA  and can tell you that PA is the sneakiest tax state there is, our politicians are also very corrupt

  4. Careful...I live in PA, my husband is a twp supervisor... our taxes are going way up... most of our neighborhoods are being flooded by folks from Jersey and even THEY are complaining!

  5. Well it depends how close you want to be to NJ.

You can find some cheap property taxes in places like New Mexico, Alabama, West Virginia....but those places might not be that desirable to you.

Here is a website...with average property tax costs per person.  http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/inve...

I live in NJ too...and taxes are crazy.  I know people living in standard cookie-cutter homes(nothing special) that are paying over 14K a yr...it's ridiculous!

  6. roumania

  7. anywhere is lower than NJ - in Pa - taxes follow property values - I have a $150k house in Chester Co, Philly NW suburbs and my RE taxes are about 2000 a yr - pretty reasonable for this area - up in the Pocono Mountains, some areas you can still get houses for under $60k - good condition - just no jobs in the area, so RE prices are depressed - I recently bought a 3BR, 1.5ba house up there for $20,000 (yes Twenty, not Two hundred) and I'm renting it out for $500/mo - about $140 a month positive cash flow right away after paying mtg, taxes, insur, water, sewer, trash - tenant pays electric (house is all electric). I grew up in NJ thru 9th grade - have been in PA for 34 yrs - It's the only state I want to live in until I die
