  1. The Virgin Islands are "warm and beachy" pretty much all year.  It is absolutely beautiful down there.  The sand is powdery white and the water is crystal clear - you can see straight to the bottom.  I was just there in September for my honeymoon.  I have tons of pictures; if you'd like me to send you some, email me and I'd be happy to.

St Thomas is by far the most developed.  It has the BEST shopping in the Caribbean.  It's duty free, and there's no sales tax on most items.  There are tons of jewelry stores.  However, parts of the island are pretty run down, so you need to be careful.  We stayed at a place called Pavilions and Pools, near the eastern end of the island.  We loved it, but it's not a big resort and it's not fancy at all.  It's laid back and casual, but you have plenty of space and privacy, and each villa has a private swimming pool.  There are lots of resorts, check travelocity or orbitz for deals.  Keep in mind that feb is part of the peak season so rooms cost more then.  St. Thomas has lots of things to do.  It has the most restaurants, night life, and tourist attractions.  It has great beaches, but in my opinion they don't compare to the ones on St. John.  Magen's Bay is very famous and Sapphire Bay is beautiful also.  They can get pretty crowded, though. For a more active, exciting vacation, go to St. Thomas.

St. John is hands down the most beautiful place I've ever been.  Most of the island is a national park and completely undeveloped.  It's completely unspoiled, just pure, natural beauty.  The beaches are uncrowded and gorgeous.  Trunk Bay is famous for snorkeling - it even has a snorkeling "trail" flagged by markers under the water.  I also loved Hawksnest Bay and Maho Bay on St. John.  There is some wonderful hiking on St. john as well, and a handful of high-end resorts.  If you want a very relaxing beach vacation, I would recommend St. John.

It's only about a 15-20 minute ride on the ferry to get between the two islands, so you can easily visit both.  The ferry is $5.00/person, one way.

I did not get to go to St. Croix, so I don't know much about it, but from what I've read, it's more similar to St. John than St. Thomas, but more or less a combination of the two.

    Have a blast!  I'm jealous!

  2. Each on of the US Virgin Islands offer something different depending on your tastes. St. Croix is a great island for rest and relaxation. It isn't as commercial as St. Thomas so there's plenty of wide open space, very little competition for space on the beach, and lots of historic and ecological sites to visit. If you have a taste for shopping there are some stores available. Don't expect much in terms of nightlife though.

St. Thomas is a bit more exciting. It's the big city of the USVI. There are a wide variety of shops if that's your thing. We also have some great beaches. There are more man-made attractions on St. Thomas like the Coral World Marine Park and the Paradise Point Tramway. As for nightlife you can find something going on almost everyday. You wouldn't want to miss 2-4-Tuesday at the Greenhouse or Ladies Night at Offshore.

St. John is the most ecologically preserved of the USVI because it's mostly National Park. On St. John you can explore the ruins of an old plantation and take a hike on natural and historic trails. The hotels on St. John are kinda pricey but a great vacation is renting space at the Cinnamon Bay or Maho Bay campgrounds. There's also a few inns that are less expensive than the big hotels.

Although we'd love to have you visit the USVI, keep in mind that any US territory does not require a passport. That includes Puerto Rico, American Samoa and Guam. Just let me know if you need more info.

  3. We really enjoy the US Virgin islands.

The water is as you describe, blue and pretty. Plenty of white sand beaches to enjoy on all three islands.

St Thomas is the most commercial island of the three with many ships visiting. The shopping is the BEST in the Caribbean. Plenty of restaurants and bars to enjoy. You have some great beaches to name two we love Megan Beach and Coki Beach. ( the best place to snorkel) Many activities to enjoy on this island. Many resorts to choose from, Marriott, Ritz, Secret Harbour, Sapphire Beach (nice beach too)etc.

St John is the smallest and just a ferry ride away from St Thomas. This island is mostly made up of a national park (2/3rds) which is great for hiking and has kept most of the beaches unspoiled without tons of resorts. Wonderful snorkeling and diving. There two major resorts on St John Westin and Caneel Bay. The rest are inns and you can rent homes/villas (plenty of those) The island is lush and hilly. Two sides to St John,Cruz Bay and Coral Bay. Cruz Bay has duty free shops, plenty of restaurants and bars. Coral bay is not as built up.

St Croix is not as built up as St Thomas but has two sides the dutch influenced side Christiansted and Frederiksted is a charming Victorian  town with gingerbread trimmed houses. Good duty free shopping, great snorkeling and diving. A must do is go to Buck Island, a nature preserve. A great place to snorkel, dive or hike.

The British Virgin islands are just ferry rides away from St Thomas and St John.

I could write a book about the USVI but I think you got the idea from all your answers.

    Enjoy)

  4. Do your research first and yes it has amazing beauty.  The problem is crime, in some of the cities you mentioned above there has been crime against tourists.  Check out which area is the safest and most tourist friendly, then google resorts and go on line and see what the resorts are and what neighborhood they are in.

  5. All your own answers are correct.  It is a beautiful place.  While you are there try to visit the British Virgin Islands which are a sailor's/boater's paradise.

  6. The Virgin Islands are located in the Leeward Islands, between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. The Islands are considered a vacation paradise. They are a well traveled tourism area. The most frequented areas are St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. These all have resorts, hotels, and rental houses. . The tourist to these islands will find many interesting sites to visit both on land and water. There are many beaches in St. John. Caneel Bay, Hawksnest Bay, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay, Francis Bay and Leinster Bay are the most popular beaches on the North shore. Leinster Bay Trail to Watermelon Cay offers you a leisurely walk to the swim area.

  7. I don't know what the weather is like because I went in June, but the beaches are beautiful.  White sand and blue blue water to die for.  We stayed on the island of St. Thomas at the Secret Harbour Beach Club.  It is right in Nazareth Bay which is incredible snorkeling.  St. John is a beautiful island, but there isn't as much to do at night.  I would recommend staying in St. Thomas and taking the ferry over to St. John.  It is a cheap short ride.

  8. I have been to all- I love S.t. thomas! you just take a ferry over to St. John- Go to trunk bay in St. John it is beautiful-  There is a wonderful conk fritter at this resturant but at the time i just can't think of the name.  I love the weather in Feburary it will still be in the late 70's low 80's the water is always like bath water- luke warm.  It is beautiful!  There is the Wynham resort but make sure you have plenty of money!!!

  9. Go in February and then any chance you can get !!!!!  The weather is warm and its an island covered with beaches.  The water is the most beautiful color of turquoise youve ever seen.

My favorite island is  St John.  As far as resorts, it depends on how fancy you want to go.  There is a Westin for quite a bit of money, Gallows point resort (my personal favorite) Coconut Coast Villas (more reasonable) Mohagany treetop villas...etc there are tons to choose from.  have a great time!
