Question:

US Virgin Islands questions.....

I read a lot of the yahoo answers already, but there are still some questions I have. I am planning a 5-7 day trip to one of the Virgin Islands, probably St.Thomas based on the info I have found so far.

I am deathly afraid of flying so I wanted to leave from Florida on a boat or ship, but can't find info except for some cruise ships that will take you there, port for the day & then leave. Does anyone know any private boats/ships that would take us to St. Thomas & then pick us back up on a certain day? Also, about how long does it take to get there by boat?

Also, I heard that the insects are bad there? is that true & if so what time of year is best to go to avoid this problem.

Any deadly snakes or spiders there?

Thanks to all in advance.

  1. With all the things you are afraid of.. airplanes... snakes... spiders... bugs... insects etc... maybe you should just STAY HOME because no matter where you go... it's not going to be like it is at home in AmeriKa.

  2. Boat will take too long to reach St Thomas, USVI. I would suggest taking a flight from Miami to St Thomas. Its the quickest and easiest way. Beside I don't think there is any boat that offers pick and drop between mainland US and the Virgin Islands other than a charter.

Mosquitos are the only insects that may bother you. We don't have any snakes or spiders. Its a developed island my friend. You will find all mainland amenities over here so worry not. If you happen to fall in love with this place and want a job in the Virgin Islands, then you can visit www.career.vi, Virgin Islands' job website for local vacancies.

    Good Luck!
