US Visa's for Irish Travellers?

I overstayed on the Waiver Programme some years ago so the only way I can travel to the States again is to apply to the American Embassy in Dublin for a Holiday Visa. I have an appointment to meet with the Embassy soon and I was just wondering if anyone has gone through this process? I would like to know what to expect on the day of the interview? THANKS!!

  1. Well, basically, they'll want to know why you overstayed the last time, and how and why things are different now. If you're more established now at work and at home, you'll want to talk about that a bit.

  2. A long time ago - but one of the things they will be trying to establish is if you are only going for a holiday.  I was fortunate as I could prove I hadn't planned to stay - and went to some expense to keep things legit.
