Hi All, I have a 10 Year Valid US B1/B2 Business Visitor Visa expiring in 2016. When i send online job applications for US, i do get quite a lot of replies with their interest but they ask as to when i will be in US for a Face to Face Interview. I have no issues in goin to US for an interview but i would like to know that if i go on a B1/B2 Visa to US and get selected for the job, is it easy to get my Visit Visa converted to Work Visa?.. Kindly Assist please

  1. Well, depends on what you think is easy, alot of employers will do that for you if your in the Tech industry, if you have to do it yourself then it is just some paper work and maybe or maybe not a long line or two. Overall, once you can verify your employment it is just a matter of getting the paperwork done, I hope your employer helps and good luck.

  2. While you can go for an interview, changing status may be much more difficult that indicated in the first answer. An employer would not only have to be interested in hiring you, but also in filing the proper paperwork and wating for that to be approved. These days, demand far outweighs supply on H1b visas for skilled imployment. If you haven't already had a petition filed for you, it's already too late until next April, and that's no joke. So, if your prospective employer is willing to wait for a year, that's going to be quite a problem.

  3. The answer is what type of work visa?

Secondly you can't convert your tourist status to working status in the USA. But you can INVEST and convert it to Investor E2, however if you are from like Canada or Mexico, you can get a TN VISA, it's really easy... You go to USA on your B1 or apply online, get interviewed by employer explain them, get a job offer and apply at your embassy. (For professionals only and for Canadian/Mexican nationals), when you getin the states dont tell the officer you are going to look for a job.
