US Women getting ready for memorable performance at 2011 FIVB Grand Prix
The 2011 FIVB Women’s Grand Prix is set to take place from August 5-21. The premier annual women’s global volleyball tournament will be hosted by different cities of China, Japan and Chinese Taipei.
A total of 15 teams from across the globe will be on board to show their thirst for victory. The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team will enter the competition with the tag of defending champion. The American team is currently placed at No. 2 on the FIVB
World Ranking Chart.
The Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) has lately announced the pools for the Grand Prix 2011. Initially, the teams will be divided into four pools, while the American squad will open the tournament in Pool D. Teams from China, Serbia, Kazakhstan
and Algeria will accompany USA in the preliminary round of the championship. Chinese city Luohe will be the host of Pool D matches.
The U.S. team, under the command of Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon, will be vying for an incredible show of volleyball at the 2011 Grand Prix. The Americans captured the limelight in the previous edition of the competition. They held off resilient rivals, Brazil
for a great victory and secured the gold medal.
This year, the team is up for the tough challenge to grab more success. The US team is undergoing extensive training and practice sessions. The head coach is very focused to prepare his team for the upcoming tournament.
The 2011 Grand Prix is essentially important as it will also help USA to go for their Olympic dream. U.S. team will actively participate in the Grand Prix and other upcoming events on the FIVB World Tour Calendar.
Speaking of the team-goals, Hugh McCutcheon stated, “Our 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix schedule will be challenging, as it always is. We will continue to work hard to keep improving through the course of the event as we prepare for the main goal this year,
Olympic qualification.”
Nonetheless, the U.S. team will have to overcome the power of other top teams of the volleyball world such as Brazil and Russia. Brazilian team lost the 2010 Grand Prix Title to USA and they will surely be seeking revenge this time. Moreover, Russia has
a great line-up and they are also expected to create a lot of buzz on the centre court.
