I am interested in teaching in Japan and I am wondering about the visa regulations. I am an American citizen but I grew up in the Philippines. If I am a US citizen, have a good degree and some experience, would it still be a problem to get visa and a TEFL job if I grew up and was educated in the Philippines?

  1. as long as you're qualified and are a native-english speaker, i don't think where you grew up matters.

  2. no. i have an uncle also a teacher now in japan. he got all his education from elementary to college to his masterals in the Philippines. matter of country is not important as long as you eligible for the job you are applying.
