US citizenship and renouncing allegiance to the Queen?

Has anyone recently or are thinking of becoming US citizen?

I became a recent US citizen and had to renounce my allegiance to her majesty Queen of England. Personally it felt great to finally become a free citizen and not some royal Queens subject. I have sworn allegiance to the Queen many times, twice in the British Army and many times as a government employee. But I did feel a twinge of guilt but mostly this was overridden with the knowledge that I am now free and don't have to live in a quasi socialist nanny state where politicians think that to solve knife crime they need to sell knives with the sharp pointy end cut off.

  1. You complain about your queen then lay your problems at the feet of your politicians. I am confused how this posting ties in with royalty when it is you complaining

  2. Welcome to America.  It is very nice having someone say nice things about our country for once.  My grandmother was from Bournemouth, England.  Good Luck.  Sorry I need to finish answering the question.  It is perfectly normal to feel guilty.  Even though I was born here I can very easily understand.  I'm sure the first colonists felt a little guilty also.  Hope this makes you feel better.

  3. I was under the impression that western European countries allow dual citizenship......ummm.....

it must be a US requirement then.

  4. Welcome to the United States Of America!   :-)

  5. you chose to come over here? wow wait till you live 4 yrs under the congress of rich b******s and you will beg the queen to let you back into the UK. im leaving the first chance i get. the govt here does nothing for the ppl so unless you have about a 7 figure income you dont count.

  6. I'm gonna be honest here. My mum lives in the States and my dad lives in the UK. (Not divorced just really weird jobs) So I travelled back and forth a lot and I can tell you America isn't any better. You do recite the pledge of allegiance quite often. No you don't have to but be aware if you don't people can become extremely offended. The government in the States sucks. The UK is talking about the knife crime while the US government isn't talking much about crime at all. Well I'm sure they are but they aren't doing much to ease up the jobs of the policemen. America has actually been in major controversey with the new forthcomings of MANY US government officials coming out about knowingly keeping secrets and lying to the media about what's going on in the world. I don't know if you were living in the same UK i was but the people of the United Kingdom are free. Complain about the actions of the UK politicians against crime but keep in mind the US has one of the highest national crime rates in the world. You're not any more free here. You'll still have to swear your allegiance here. You'll still have stupid (well maybe more of that here but hopefully not after November) politicians. (I'm thinking that the UK politicans aren't as bad) And now you're jumping into a sharply declining economy who's currency is worth half of that you hold in the UK. But hey, it's like a 50% off sale everywhere you go. That'll last maybe 2 months before your money becomes standard USD.

  7. You have always been free. You have had more freedoms than the country that you are now a citizen of has.We don't have that childish pledge of allegiance before the start of school.or before sports events.I have been free to come and go to any country that I want.Americans do not have that freedom.Try going to Cuba or North Korea or any other country on americas black list. How shallow you must be to say that you now feel free. You talk about weapons? You have the gall to talk about weapons? There is no other country in the world that has as much violent crime as does america, the birthplace of the Saturday night special. What the h**l are you talking about? No,I have never even thought about going to america,to live or to visit.I don't have to live in a cess pit to know what sh*t is or what the smell of sh*t is.I could go on and tell you just how much more true freedom we,here in the U.K have than in america but I don't want the repetitive stress syndrome to worsen.

Edit.......bring on the thumbs down. The truth does hurt doesn't it!

Edit........Dear me.I have seen the singing of the national anthem with all of those stupid people standing there, hand over heart. So maybe the pledge of alleigence isn't spouted before sports events.but, you do admit that children are indoctrinated with it from an early age.Brainwashing is just that,in any country that allows it,wether it be america or any of the remaining communist states.I have never had to pledge aleigiance to the Queen,England or the U.K and I am not forced to sing the national anthem either.I AM FREE.

Edit..........me,I didn't give you thumbs down,it is not my style. You are entitled to your opinion, however wrong I may think it is.I will give you thumbs up.Peace.

  8. First of all dude, i've lived in this country all my life and i havent recited the pledge since grade school (which kids can get out of with their parents permission) and i havent even heard of the pledge being recited at sporting event. I also find it funny that you can judge a country you apparently know nothing about. However i do agree with you about it being dumb that we cant travel to certain countries, i love america with all my heart and ill be the first to admit were not perfect, but what country is?  But asker, welcome to the states! I hope youll love it here as much as i do.
