Hello.

I have a US passport thats about 2 years old and you should update your passport every 10 years. But i got married this year and plan on going on a cruise in March. do i need to get my passport changed or should i bring my ID and my marriage license? what do you think i am not sure.

  1. You need to have your name changed on your passport, the name on the passport has to match the name on your cruise ticket to get aboard.

    The rules for US citizens who are going on a cruise leaving from the US and returning to the US are changing from 31 January 2008.

    Have a look at both sites, although not clear about when the changes will be implemented in full, I think that getting your name changed will ensure that you will be able to travel from and to the US without a problem.

  5. Check with the cruise line you are going to sail with. Chances are they are going to want you to change your passport, but the key is to make sure that the cruise is booked with the name on your passport, because if they are different you are not going to get on-board, even if you have your marriage certificate with you.
