In 1898 Spain ceded Cuba and Puerto Rico to the US.

Cuba was never a "property" they were just under treaty, but Roosevelt gave them independence in 1902 and Puerto Rico is a semi-autonomous territory.

The Philippines gained independence from the US in 1946.
