  1. See the current visa bulletin.  It comes out each month....

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bullet...

Right now they are servicing priority date December, 22, 1996.  This guy has another 7 and 1/2 years to wait provided he doesn't get married.

************The guy below me is wrong.  F2B has a priority date of 1996.  It's F2A that has a 2002 priority date.

  2. What do you mean approved documents?

You can check the priority dates of each country in the http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bullet... website.

Once the petition has been approved, the USCIS will ask for documents, once the documents were received, you have to wait for further instructions from the USCIS. The process is automated and if oftentimes, they are delayed they will surely come.

The priority date for your petition was July 22 2004. Currently, the visas available (and are now being processed) in your category are those filed before December 15, 2002. Meaning, no visa numbers are yet available in your category. In the visa bulletin, a visa number becomes available for processing and for use, if the priority date (July 2004) is earlier than the cut-off date (Dec 2002).

I think you have to wait a little longer, a year or two. Be patient. I think in 2009 your papers will start getting into the mill. I hope your family can reunite once more.
