Question:

US visa interview in London? How long will I have to wait for a date?

I have been granted my petition for a K3 visa, had the visa medical and have sent back the readiness form for an interview. I checked the USCIS website yesterday and it said there was a 3 month delay for the interview in London, yet when I phoned one person told me there was a 6-8 week delay whilst another told me 2-4 weeks...

I just need to know as my husband's visa to be here expires here in October and I need to know if we should go ahead and book his plane ticket home now, rather than waiting for the visa interview (I am not going to get my ticket until I've had the interview, but my husband has to go home in October regardless of whether I have my visa or not)

Sensible and genuine answers only please.

  1. The ugly American still lives there.! Even the marines don't like those they protect.! Don't expect the arrogant jerks to give anyone a fair shake.!

  2. If you book a fight check out the cancellation cost The U S embassy can not concern themselves with your agenda

They is a web site that well give you the date of your interview

You are over the hard part and they well be giving you an interview I would think if you are not leaving for over 3 months you have time

Try and understand they have hundreds of people who want their visa now right now and you are nervous  Good luck and welcome

  3. The website usually gives the worst possible scenario as they don't want complains from people who look there for information. The premium phone line given to call is actually in Scotland and the people there don't have much of a clue.

    I looked here http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1li...

for recent timelines and it looks like 6 weeks might be reasonable. The Embassy does slow down over the summer as staff go away for holidays.  It's worth taking a look at the visa journey website as it's full of people who are in the process of applying so they can provide up to date information about waits.

I had actually sent my packet 4 back to say I was ready for interview before I went for my medical as that way I saved some time. You might still make it over with your husband but you are right not to buy a ticket until you have your passport back with the visa.

    Good Luck
