US visa overstayed?

Question

I have a friend who overstayed his US visa by about two years and has since returned to his country. It has been 5 years since he's returned, and he now wants to visit me with his wife for about one month for a vacation. What is the chance or is it even possible that he will be able to come visit me without trouble from US customs. I understand there is a ban on return once visa is overstayed, however he is now in poor health and only wishes to see me here for a short time.

Not good.  He will most likely not get a visa.
