USA Badminton Junior International Trials: Timothy Lam demolishes Albert Li to wrap up U17 title
USA’s impressive shuttler Timothy Lam surprised everyone as he claimed Boy’s Singles U17 title after crushing his higher ranked compatriot Albert Li in the final clash at USA Badminton Junior International Trials 2013 in USA, on Tuesday, February 19.
The third seeded Timothy, who played terrific badminton in all matches of the tournament, continued his roller-coaster run in the final contest and easily thrashed Albert who was the top seed in Boy’s Singles U17 draw of the championship.
Timothy played with wonderful speed and confidence in the final encounter. He did not show any mercy to his challenger at any stage in the battle and easily ended it up in straight games with a striking margin of 21-6 and 21-16 in 44 minutes.
On the other hand, the top seeded Albert failed to continue his dominating run in the arena. He could not stop the aggressive play of his lower ranked challenger and eventually went down without securing even a single set.
The impressive Timothy delivered extremely well from the opening points of first set as he played with phenomenal speed and took over the control.
Timothy proved that he has attained highest class skills in the arena and eventually successful in taking a strong domination in the arena. He was in dominating position all the way to take a phenomenal lead until the end of starting part.
The confused Albert could not play positive game after the mid-game interval as he lost his focus and committed many errors along the way and remained struggling to find a good flow.
While, Timothy did not reduce the pace of the game at any stage and comfortably clinched the first set with a comfortable 21-6 difference on the board.
Things were similar in the second set of this entertaining fight as Timothy played in the similar attacking way. He was in remarkable form and he remained successful in building a stunning gap until the one-minute break.
Albert could not put up strong show in the second set of this battle as his in-form opponent Timothy played aggressive badminton and wrapped up the game with a reasonable 21-16 total on the score board.
