USA Relay Team dominates Men’s 4*200m freestyle heats: Day six – 2011 FINA World Championships
Relay Team of USA conquered the top position in the qualifying rounds of Men’s 4*200m freestyle relay on sixth day of the Federation Internationale de Natation organised FINA World Championships on Friday, July 29, in Shanghai.
The American team occupied the fastest qualification spot into the finals, by posting a strong time of 7 minutes and 08.84 seconds. The team included David Walters, Conor Dwyer, Richard Berens, and Peter Vanderkaay, where Vanderkaay was the fastest swimmer
among his team fellows, as he completed his swim in a time of 1 minute and 46.53 seconds.
Their qualification time missed the world record of 6 minutes and 58.55 seconds, with a difference of 10.29 seconds, which was also made by the American team at the 2009 Rome World Championships.
The top qualifying team was followed by the Japanese squad, who claimed the second fastest qualification spot in the final, as they stayed nearly two seconds behind USA and submitted a time of 7 minutes and 10.46 seconds. The third fastest spot was secured
by French swimming team, which stayed just 1.14 seconds behind Japan’s swimmers and clocked a time of 7 minutes and 11.60 seconds.
Australian swimmers remained prominent for the fourth fastest qualification spot of the event and posted a time of 7 minutes and 11.80 seconds. Italian swimmers occupied fifth fastest qualification spot of the event, as they remained 0.38 seconds behind
them and produced a time of 7 minutes and 12.18 seconds.
In the meantime, the Chinese team claimed sixth fastest spot of the swim, as they stayed only 0.01 seconds away from their former finishers, posting a time of 7 minutes and 12.19 seconds. China was followed by Great Britain and Germany, as the completed
their swims in the seventh and eighth qualifying spots, with timings of 7:13.15 and 7:13.31 minutes, respectively.
The arena enjoyed the stupendous swims of all participating squads, whereas, these finalists will have a chance to compete with each other in the second session of the respective meet.
