USA Relay Team impresses in Men’s 4*200m freestyle finals: Day six – 2011 FINA World Championships
USA Relay Team impressed the arena by winning the gold medal of Men’s 4*200m freestyle relay on sixth day of the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) organised World Championships on Friday, July 29, in Shanghai, China.
The American team posted a phenomenal time of 7 minutes and 02.67 seconds for the gold medal. The team comprised of Michael Phelps, Peter Vanderkaay, Richard Berens and Ryan Lochte, where Lochte was the fastest American swimmer to finish his 200m freestyle
swim, as he posted a time of 1 minute and 46.53 seconds. The Relay team of USA improved their timing by nearly six seconds in the finals, as they qualified in a time of 7 minutes and 08.84 seconds.
They were followed by French squad, which earned the silver medal of the event in a time of 7 minutes and 04.81 seconds. In the meantime, the Chinese team emerged on the victory stand for the bronze medal, as they were only one second slower than France
and reported in a time of 7 minutes and 05.67 seconds.
The German team remained evident for the fourth finest spot of the distant freestyle relay, as they stayed 2.65 seconds behind them and posted a time of 7 minutes and 08.32 seconds. They were followed by Australian squad, which occupied fifth fastest spot
of the event, as they remained 0.16 seconds behind them and clocked a timing of 7 minutes and 08.48 seconds.
After a while, Great Britain’s team occupied sixth fastest spot of the swim, as they were only 0.36 seconds away from their previous finishers and reported a time of 7 minutes and 12.19 seconds. Great Britain was followed by Japan and Italy, who concluded
their races in a time of 7:10.84 and 7:10.92 minutes, for the seventh and eighth positions, respectively.
Furthermore, the arena acknowledged the remarkable swims of all relay teams. In addition, the session ended after completion of all swimming events, while the winners collected medals for their beautiful swims after the meet.
