USA Swimming’s Jamie R. Olsen collaborates with Praesidium for s*x abuse education – Swimming News
Director of communications and brand management at USA Swimming, Jamie R. Olsen, is collaborating with a s*x abuse risk-managing firm, Praesidium, to enhance the protection level of their female athletes.
The decision is taken in wake of the increasing allegations of USA Swimming coaches, who physically abuse their female swimmers inappropriately.
The news was announced by Olsen, who said that Praesidium will work on the development of a complete s*x abuse education program.
Olsen said, “We are proud of the educational services we are providing. Along with the rest of our athlete protection efforts, this is something that will continue to evolve and grow, as we maintain our focus and commitment to providing a safe environment
for all our members.”
The director said that the firm will work alongside the Athlete protection Committee of USA Swimming, to develop appropriate materials for the athletes based on their ages. He added that the program will also be available to online viewers.
Praesidium Chief Executive Officer, Richard Dangel, was very positive about the success of the programme, saying that Praesidium has an experience of more than 20 years in providing assistance to larger organisations like USA Swimming, to improve the safety
of their athletes. He said that the authenticity of their program can be judged from their massive updated research and the scientific method for avoiding mistreatment.
Dangel added, “This background helps us know in advance the major areas of risk in an organization’s operations and allows us to focus our time and effort on specific issues and customized solutions for our clients.”
He said that the plan will assist athlete and non-athlete members, along with their parents.
Olsen considered the step mandatory and said that cases of this sort have been increasing in USA swimming, day by day. He pointed towards the most recent case of Andrew King, who has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for abusing his several female students,
during his coaching career.
Olsen also said that more than 40 members have been banned from USA Swimming due to similar reasons. He added that the programme is important and immediate results will be seen after it is implemented.
