USA Volleyball announces eleven athletes for Pan Am Games
USA Volleyball has recently made the announcement that has highlighted 11 of its athletes to take part in the Pan American Games. These games are scheduled to be held from 24th October to the 29th October. Mexico is the host country
for the event this year with matches taking place in the city of Guadalajara.
The Pan American Games are deemed to be the biggest sporting event after the Olympics Games. Pan Am showcases athletes from various nations as they participate in the sporting event.
The U.S. Men’s Pan American Games team will be composed of Evan Patak, who plays for the American Men’s National Volleyball Team. Patak represented the Americans at the London Volleyball International Invitational tournament. Not only that, Patak also has
exposure while playing at the NORCECA Continental Championship. Patak is a senior player as he has been with the Americans national volleyball team since 2009.
Apart from Patak, the players for the Pan Am include athlets that have been noticed for their skill in their university level performances. These are Tony Ciarelli, the outside hitter for University of Southern California as well as Matt Stork, who will
be completing his college in spring from Cal State Northridge. The middle blocker from University of California, LA, Nick Vogel, is also part of the Pan Am team.
The head coach of the U.S. team, John Speraw, made the following comments about the upcoming matches that his team would have to face: “I have to think that other teams are in the same situation as us. I have no idea what level the other teams are going
to be. We’re going to take advantage of every opportunity we have to make this the best team possible. We are going to work really hard and represent USA Volleyball the best we can.”
When the Pan AM Games were held in 2007, the Americans clinched the bronze medal. They have already been able to bag a total of three gold medals until now and will be looking for another one this time around.
