Question:

USA and EU electricity?

I'll be moving to USA soon for 10 months(maybe more after that if I get into college) and I am worried about my electrical devices.

Here we use plugs with 2 pins or however those things are called(that you put in holes) and in usa its 110v and here 220v electricity.

I know there are some adapters which you put over cable and it works but I'm going to buy PC, monitor, ps3 and some other electrical devices and I don't want to use some cheap solution. I heard there are transformers ? How does that work?

So basically to sum it up, how do I use USA plugs and sockets in EU country which doesn't use same system. ( we have like this http://tuxgraphics.org/electronics/power... or similar)

HELP PLEASE, this is really important.

  1. First off, in order to have your EU electronics to work you will need a plug adapter and STEP-UP transformer (110 to 220v). You can easily find those in major electronic stores or travel supplies store

Secondly, you said you are purchasing the monitor, PS3, and stuffs. Are you buying in US? If so in order to have them work in EU, you will again need a plug converter and STEP-DOWN transformer (220 to 110). Again you can find them easily on US sides like Radio Shacks.

Now keep in mind that US PS3 runs on NTSC not PAL. You will run into another problem unless you have multi system in your TV in EU.

    Good luck.
