USA basketball and chances at the 2010 World Championships hosted by Turkey from August 28 to September 12, 2010
The team USA is one that has no superstars this summer, no LeBron James, Kobe Bryant or Dwayne Wade are there to help team USA climb their way to the top of the mountain. However, regardless of what they ‘don’t’ have, it’s important to take into account of they ‘do’ have.
According to experts, the USA team have a bunch of exciting guards in their squad. Out of them is one of the most humble players of the game in Kevin Durant. Durant along with his coach, Mike Krzyzewski are hoping for the best and expecting to dominate the World Championships 2010 that would begin at the end of this month.
The team USA that will be competing in the World Championships this month comprising of the following players, Chauncey Billups, Stephen Curry, Eric Gordon, Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook, who will be playing as guards for the new team USA having high hopes. Kevin Duran and Rudy g*y will be playing the double role of both, as guards as well as forwards. Danny Granger, Andre Iguodala and Lamar Odom will be serving as the forwards, Tyson Chandler and Kevin Love will be representing the team USA as the centres and looking to dominate the proceedings with their game and abilities.
Experts say that Kevin Durant’s game is one that is a complete package and one that could certainly bring home the title for them. Experts have also said that Durant’s game perfectly fits the international style of play. According to some reports, it has been said that his game is better than that of LeBron James, Wade or Kobe. Being one of the most deadly shooters of the game, he will be looking to devastate the opponents by his excellent ability to shoot off the dribble and from anywhere on the court. Another of the abilities of this talented player is his ability to draw fouls and get to the line from where he has a 90 percent success rate.
The guards that are in the roster give them speed. Not only speed, they are also among the quickest when it come to reflexes according to experts and are among some of the fastest guards that the NBA has to offer. With the experience that Chauncey Billups offers along with the still speedy drives that he makes, even the young guys get shrugged off.
In addition, reports suggest that with the players like Granger in the point guard position, it would take the scoring abilities of the team USA to a new level. The experts and former legendary players also say that team USA should make sure they do not shoot from the outside often, so as to assure that they have a good scoring efficiency. Adding to this, the experts say that they need to have the energy level on the high from the word go, so as to put the opposition on the back foot and dominate which is possible given the strength of the guards that are present in the USA team.
The team should not be expected to do anything explosive in the department of defence, as these players are generally more attack minded. However, one of way of seeing success is that they devise a plan that emphasizes on full-court pressure. The team USA will be looking to press for every ball and with players like Chandler on court who provides defence at the rim, will make the team all the more exciting to watch on defence.
Coming to the most important question and on which the article would end is that will the team USA win? Experts say that the tournament sees them seeded as second with Argentina on top of them. In addition, with players like Ginobli not playing for them, the team looks a little weak. Other powerhouses of Europe like Spain are missing their NBA champion Pau Gasol. Moreover, with French squad deprived of Tony Parker and Joakim Noah’s services, one can only sit tight and wait for the action to begin.
Nothing can be accurately predicted, only time will tell who triumph, however, anything less than a first position should be considered as a disappointment for any team.
