Hi everyone! I'm looking to renew my as-yet unexpired passport. The catch is I want to keep the one I have because there are some unusual stamps in it.

Looking on the official web site, I can renew the passport by mail, but i have to send in the expired/unexpired one with the application. My guess is that I won't get the new and old ones sent to you, particularly with the current backlog.

Is there a way to obtain the new passport and keep the "old" one? Also, must I renew by mail, or can I go to the post office like a first time applicant?
