USA v Canada - ICC Americas Region Division One Twenty20 - Match Recap
Canada 131 (19.2/20 ov) v United States of America 121/9 (20.0/20 ov) - Canada won by 10 runs
In a battle between neighbours, the United States of America (USA) clashed with Canada in the ongoing International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) Americas Region Division One Twenty20 tournament, at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill,
Florida, July 22, 2011.
The home side left the fans in disarray as they lost the game by 10 runs in a bid to chase a tally of 131 runs posted by Canada.
Earlier in the day, after winning the toss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khushroo-Peri-Wadia-c71410 stole the home side’s thunder by going after
the bowlers right from the word go.
However, it was a sorry spectacle for the fans as they saw their team being hit for runs by the Canadians at will. Nevertheless, on the last delivery of the 9th over the fans finally stood in joy when Bhim George sneaked a delivery through Sandher’s
defences. He was dismissed after scoring 23 runs off 26 deliveries. At the time of his departure Canada had scored 72 runs.
While the US managed to grab two wickets, Wadia kept his foot on the accelerator as he smacked bowlers with zeal and style. The batsman looked in superb form and thrashed the hosts without reprieve.
It was then on the penultimate delivery of the 11th over when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usa-c759 struck again by grabbing the wicket of Wadia, who after playing a blazing innings of 56 runs off 35 deliveries, was caught and bowled by Bhim George. The batsman struck eight boundaries
and a six.
However, after Wadia’s wicket, USA made a recovery in the game as they managed to grab wickets at regular intervals and it was only the one down batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TC-Bastiampillai-c2651, who managed to score double figures as he knocked 22 runs off 23 deliveries.
The late order batsman completely disappointed everyone as they failed to capitalise on the perfect start provided by the openers as the whole squad fell after posting 131 runs on the board.
Needing 132 to win, the US had a chance to win the game as the score was easily achievable and the home side had batsmen capable enough to steer the side to victory; nonetheless, this was just not their day as after a sensation start by opener Sushilkumar
Suhas Nadkarni, who clobbered 40 runs off 35 deliveries, the team still fell 10 runs short of the required total.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 Wadia from Canada was named as the Man of the Match for his aspiring performance with the bat.
