USAV selects Rachel Krabacher to the Women’s National A2 Team Programme – Volleyball news
The Cincinnati, Ohio native, 22-year-old Rachel Krabacher has been added to the roster of U.S. Women’s National A2 Team Programme.
The USA Volleyball (USAV) has selected the outside hitter as one of the 48 athletes on the A2 Programme for this summer. The members of the National A2 Programme generally come from 34 different collegiate programmes. Krabacher will be among 14 outsider
hitters of the A2 Programme. Besides the outside hitters, the programme includes 12 middle blockers, 8 defence experts (liberos), eight setters, and six opposites.
Last year, the USAV picked out outstanding athletes through Open tryouts. The U.S. Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs provided the backdrop for the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts in the month of February. A total of 207 aspiring athletes
participated in the tryouts but only 36 got selected. This year, the USAV has increased the number of players from 36 to 48.
Krabacher has made it to the U.S. Women’s National A2 Team Programme for second consecutive year, which is pretty impressive.
Likewise, South Dakota State’s Kelli Fiegen, Natalie Hagglund of Southern California, Ariel Turner of Purdue, Gwen Rucker (Louisville), Michigan State’s Alexis Mathews, and Madison Kingdon of Arizona have been repeatedly selected to the A2 Team Programme.
Krabacher is currently attached with Dayton High School volleyball team and this is consecutive fourth season that a Dayton athlete has found a place in the A2 Programme.
Krabacher, who is a 2011 AVCA honourable mention All-American outside hitter, deserved to be in the A2 Programme as she has great many achievements to her name.
The U.S. Women’s National A2 Team Programme will begin training in coming June. The members of A2 Programme will travel to Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, where matches will be held from June 30 to July 4. The grid of 48 players will be divided into
four teams and each team will have 12 players.
Krabacher has received a lot appreciation from her team for making it to the A2 Programme. In the next run, she has great plans for the upcoming training matches, which will create an opportunity for her to showcase her skills in front of bigger audience.
