USB Broadband connection problem?

I installed the software and when i tried to connect it it gives this error:

USB is considered to be an unreliable connection because of the rate of transfer of data. It's a finicky connection at the best of times.

Most ISPs including mine don't even support USB or supply modems with a USB connection now. The best connection is an Ethernet connection. [NIC]. Cards are about £15 - £20. The connection cable looks like a telephone connection on each end.
