USB Hard Drive - Won't recognize. I have attempted to utilize a Kingbyte (?) external USB Hard

I have attempted to utilize a Kingbyte (?) external USB Hard drive to no avail. There was a floppy disc included with the set, but everything I've tried still results in an error message about the USB devise not be recognized. Recommendations? Thanks. I have Western digital 60G USB 2.0 HARD DRIVE .IT RECOGNIZES SOME COMPUTERS WHICH I HAVE VISTA AND WIN XP.i HAVE ANOTHER ONE GATEWAY WITH VISTA WON'T RECOGNIZE THIS SAME HARD DRIVE BUT ALL OTHER FLASH DRIVE WORKS ON SAME USB 2.0
