USB Memory Stick Help!?

Question

My computer won't read my usb stick. When I put it in the USB thing in the computer it makes a wierd noise and nothing pops up. I checked to see if it was in the files with My Computer but nothing was in the removable part. Any help?

i have 4 usb ports and depending on which one i use it shows different.

the first time I put one in i was confused too ,it showed up as E which is normally dvd ram drive E.
