USB not decting plug n play devices

Question

I have a Compaq Presario SR1320NX Desktop PC with a 2.0GHz AMD Sempron 3100+ processor. The problem is when I try to use the USB ports its not detecting plug-n-play devices or if it does detect the device on initial setup it doesn’t properly install the drivers. I’ve tried the P-n-P devices on several other computers and they load the drivers and play them just fine. Do I need new AMD chipset drivers to get new USB drivers or is there something else that can be done to fix this problem? Please help?
